Gordon J. Duff is a shareholder in the Sacramento office of Boyden, Cooluris, Livingston & Saxe PC. Prior to joining the firm in 2003, he had been practicing for over thirteen years in the real estate transactions department of the Sacramento commercial real estate law firm of Trainor Robertson.
Mr. Duff’s practice is focused on commercial real estate transactions, including secured real estate lending, office and retail leasing and real property acquisition and divestment. He also represents clients with respect to title matters, easement agreements, property tax issues, and general commercial real estate matters. He has represented institutional lenders, REITs, shopping center owners, retail chains, large office users, developers and property managers.
Mr. Duff has been a contributing author for Commercial Lease Law Insider, a monthly publication of national circulation. He is also a contributing author to Brownstone Publisher’s The Insider’s Best Commercial Lease Clauses book. He has taught the Building Owners and Managers Institute International college-level course on Law for Property Managers in their Real Property Administration (RPA) certification program. In 2003, he taught “Strategic Planning and the Commercial Lease” sponsored by Lorman Education Services. He has also authored numerous articles for other commercial real estate publications.
Mr. Duff is an active member of the Association of Commercial Real Estate (ACRE) where he currently serves as the President-Elect. He is a member of the State Bar of California Real Property Law Section, and the Sacramento County Bar Association Real Estate Section. He has served on the California State University at Sacramento Rho Epsilon Real Estate Alumni Association board as either the president or a director from 1992 through 2000. He has also served on the Advisory Board for the Sacramento Food Bank Community Learning Center, which is dedicated to instructing adults at no cost in basic English, reading, writing and other skills.
Mr. Duff received his B.S. degree in Business Administration, with a concentration in Real Estate and Land Use Affairs, with honors, from California State University, Sacramento, in 1984. He received his J.D. from McGeorge School of Law with Great Distinction in 1989, graduating in the top five percent of his class. In 1992, he received an M.B.A. from California State University, Sacramento.
